Joint Resesarch on International Marriage and labor Migrations in the Asia-Pacific Region

2016 Joint Research on International Marriage and Labor Migrations in the Asia-Pacific Region

  • Supported by Statistics Korea, the Asia Pacific Population Institute continued the Joint Research on International Marriage and Labor Migration in the Asia-Pacific Region in 2016, with excellent research teams from the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Republic of Korea.
  • First launched in 2015, the primary objective of the joint research project was to comprehend the statuses and changes of international migrations in the Asia-Pacific region. Encouraged by the success of the first-year collaborative work among the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and Korea, the APPI extended the project by conducting a comparative research on international marriage and labor migrations in the region.
  • The results and implications of the comparative research in 2016 were shared with academics and the general public in an international seminar, which was held in Seoul, November 10-11, 2016.
