Workshop on the Development of Census Methods for the Improvement of the Usability of Census Result

Overview of the Workshop

  • Statistics Korea has hosted “Workshop on the development of census methods for the Improvement of the usability of census results” on December 3rd-5th, and December 9th – 11th, consecutively. The main objectives of this workshop were to enhance the usability of status results and to help establish further steps to develop census methods by hearing the methods and knowhow from the countries with advanced methods.
    Apart from last year’s workshop on census, this year’s census workshop was solely consisted of brief presentations and intensive Q&A sessions, to encourage intensive discussion about the specified theme between experts and working level officers.
  • The first workshop was held under the theme of ‘IT Solution for Improving the usability of Statistics’, with two lecturers from Statistics Canada. It mainly focused on utilization of administrative data, utilization of GIS and Big Data/Microdata service.
  • The second workshop was held under the theme of ‘census and statistics on income and asset, based on administrative data’, inviting two experts from Statistics Norway. It mainly focused on management and utilization of administrative data and production of statistics on income & economic activity utilizing administrative data.
