Participants

 Approximately 30 people, consisting of
  • experts from National Statistical Offices, mainly persons in charge and/or
  • technical experts on censuses, academics specializing in population statistics, and social sciences, and researchers who are interested in the census applications

Aims and Objectives

  • To bring together key stakeholders on population censuses from the Asia-Pacific region in order to discuss the latest generation of credible, reliable, and up-to-date knowledge and technologies on new census methodologies and applications, in a more comprehensive and coordinated manner.
  • To share each participating countries’ knowledge and state-of-the-art technologies on register-based and rolling censuses.
  • In order to provide developing countries in the Asia-Pacific region with opportunities for learning and the proliferation of the latest census methods, census specialists from five Asia-Pacific countries (Mongolia, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan, and Thailand) were also invited to the workshop and participated in the presentations and discussions.
