Introduction of the 2nd KOSTAT Summer Seminar on Population

    Demographic Theory, Demographic Analysis with Own Data, Life Tables and Event History Analyses and Understanding Local Demography.
  • Venue
    Four independent workshops were held in Daejeon, Busan, Seoul, and Jeju for a week or two.
  • Lecturer
    Eminent demographers from Korea, Australia, and U.S.A.
  • Working language
    English, Korean
  • Lecture Schedule
    Monday to Friday, lectures in the morning and afternoon, each 3 hours. Workshop 1, 3, 4 are designed for 24 hours of lectures and Workshop 2 is for 48 hours including the practice time.
  • Tuition fees
    Participants are required to manage the transportation, accommodation, and own meals for themselves.

    Each workshop supports up to ten participants’ accommodation and meals subject to full-time graduate student status. For accommodation and meals provision, full-time applicants must submit an official proof of enrollment prior to the seminar.

    7 government officials from developing countries are sponsored by Statistics Korea.

  • The working language of the first workshop will be in Korean or English. This workshop consists of A (Kor.) and B (Eng.) sections. The topic, period, and location are the same.
  • Participants at Workshop 2 will analyze his/her own demographic data and report the research results.
  • Participant requirements
    University graduates (Training and experience in a field relevant to one of the workshops are preferred.) Good understanding of English to follow the lectures.
